KOMMOS (Beach) HERAKLIO
Kommos has a very beautiful sandy beach east of Matala. The beach is quite spectacular and surprisingly undeveloped, probably due to the archaeological site and restrictions on private enterprise in the area.
AGIA PELAGIA (Port) HERAKLIO
The Agia Pelagia Bay area is fast becoming a first-class tourist area. It is the first major beach west of Iraklion and can be reached from Iraklion in about 20 minutes. There are many tourist facilities of all classes here.
ARVI (Village) VIANNO
As the paved road winds down to the coast, you will see plastic-covered hothouses where bananas and pineapples are grown. The climate of this area allows cultivation of these tropical fruits. There is a small pebble beach here and a main street with small hotels and tavernas. The main source of income is from the hothouse-grown produce.
