ITHAKI (Island) IONIAN ISLANDS
DEXIA
Near Vathi, on
your way to Aetos, you will
find Dexia beach. Ulysses is believed to have disembarked here when he arrived
at Ithaki. It is a small, cosy sandy beach and swimming in the clear blue sea
will fill you with enthusiasm.
AETOS
Aetos’ beach
is situated in the middle of the island, near its narrowest part. The wind-protected
beach at the far end of the bay is ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
PISSO AETOS
Pisso Aetos is
diametrically opposite to Aetos,
at the western part of the island. It is another magnificent beach, close to Vathi
and once you come here you can also visit the ruins of the ancient
city Alalkomenes nearby.
GIDAKI
Among the island’s most famous beaches, near Vathi,
Gidaki is full of people in the summer, people who understand the meaning of "greek
summer" under the warm sun, in the cool sea, enjoying total relaxation.
FILIATRO
Leeward beach in the homonymous bay. It is situated in a close distance
from Vathi and overlooks the
coasts of the mainland.
AFALES
Afales beach is full of pine trees, which almost reach the sea in
an image that will remain in the visitor’s memory.
The sandy beach, together with the deep blue sea, relax and freshen
up the visitors who come here for swimming.
KOURVOULIA
Kourvoulia is a small, secluded beach at the northern part of the
island near Frikes.
The beach is lined with trees offering shade to the visitors and creating
a fascinating image.
SARAKINIKO
Sarakiniko beach is at the far end of Sarakiniko bay. On the left
cove of the bay, you see Skoutari cape.
The crystal clear water of the sea invites the visitor in to freshen
him up.
MNIMATA
Mnimata beach, near Skinos bay, attracts many holidaymakers every
summer because of the short distance from Vathi
and mainly due to the superb crystal clear sea.
SKINOS
Skinos is one of the most famous and crowded beach on the island.
It is situated in the homonymous bay, 3 klm. from Vathi
and the view to the northern part of the island is unrivalled.
AI-GIANNIS
Ai-Giannis beach
at the western part of Ithaki, on the way to Stavros
village, combines the blue sea with the all-green mountain called Kathara.
KIONI
Kioni beach, situated
at the northern part of Ithaki, also attracts many visitors. Being wind-protected
it invites the visitor to spend the whole day here enjoying the clear waters and
the life-giving sun.

of Myrtos, near Assos,

PETANI
Wonderful secluded beach in Palliki.
A small narrow street leads to the seashore, which you should not fail to visit.
MEGAS LAKOS - XI
Two adjoining beaches 7 klm. long are situated at the southern part
of Palliki. They are the omst
visited of all the Palliki
beaches. In the summer of 1997, due to the clarity and clearness of the waters
they were awarded with a "blue flag".
PORTO ATHERA
Picturesque beach in a beautiful natural landscape at the northern
part of Palliki peninsula
with deep blue sea and cosy fish taverns.
MAKRIS GIALOS
One of the most famous and crowded beaches on the island next to Platis
Gialos. The crystal clear sea will excite even the most demanding holiday-maker.
PLATIS GIALOS
Spacious organised beach some kilometres from Argostoli. Modern tourist
facilities are built around the beach offering the visitors all possible amenities.
AVITHOS
Avithos beach is situated in the area Livatho
and has beautiful blue sea and a magnificent sandy beach.
LOURDAS
Lourdas beach
is situated at the southwestern part of the island. The visitor has the chance
to swim next to the magnificent vegetable-gardens which are still cultivated in
the traditional manner.
KATELIOS
Katelios beach,
near Skala, apart from the

island and the Ionian Sea.
SKALA
Skala beach is

The beach of Tsilivi is long, safe, with fine sand and crystal clear waters. Here your can find plenty of tourist amenities and a wide range of water activities (tennis, water-ski, surfing, boat trips, fishing...)
The north sea streams keep the waters of the bay always clear. Due to this Tsilivi beach is awarded with the Blue Flag of Europe from the EC.
This lovely beach is backed with olive-tree planted hills and a vast plain of vineyards.
In the area you can find restaurants with traditional and international cuisine, hotels, apartment hotels and pensions (there are 1500 beds in hotels and 3.500 beds in pensions and self-catering apartments). In the sea area north of the beach, the islet of Voidi, once connected with the mainland, is one of the many choices of seaside walks.

KARAVOMYLOS (Village) KEFALLONIA
This is the largest of a number of pretty coves found on the way from Karavomylos to the town of Agia Efimia in the neighboring municipality of Pylaros. All coves are easily accessible as the main road passes next to the sea making it simply a matter of descending a footpath of a few meters. The road turns and winds, constantly revealing naturally set rest areas, shaded by olive trees, complete with yet another pretty cove. The coves - with a view of Ithaki in the distance - have coarse white sand and clean waters in dreamy hues of turquoise and blue.

KONTOGIALOS (Beach) CORFU
A narrow unsealed road takes from the hill of Pelekas
to a small, sheltered harbour. Many regard it as the finest beach in Corfu.
LIMNI KERIOU (Settlement) ZAKYNTHOS
The waters of the lake, so clear and transparent from afar, give the impression
that one could drink them. Keri Lake was known from antiquity until recently for
the natural pitch which welled up from underground and was used for caulking boats.
There are a number of wells and springs near the lake which have now dried up.
Nevertheless, the spring of Herodotus can still be seen by the visitor. At the
charming little coffee shops on the beachfront one can relax and enjoy oneself.
Caiques leave from here for the caves, the rocks and the bays around Marathia.
