Sea World Museum on the beach in Vlihadia shows the natural world under the sea -including sponges, of course- together with sunken treasure retrieved from local shipwrecks. There are also artefacts and memorabilia from the island's seafaring history. The Kalymnian House is a charming museum on the hill above Pothia, devoted to the island's life, customs and folklore. How did Kalymnians clean their teeth and wash their clothes? What games did children play? Why did mothers bath their baby boys in salt? What did a marriage contract involve?
