To the left of the Town Hall, on the ground floor of the Cultural centre (old Club "Hellas") is housed the Public Library of Hermoupolis. About 35.000 books are kept here, many of them unique. In its garden, one can see the busts of the important writers and scholars of Syros Dimitrios Vikelas, Emmanuel Roidis, Georgios Souris, Timoleon Ampelas, and Rita Boumpi-Papa, who marked the cultural life of Syros.
