Municipality of Lefkada

The Municipality of Lefkada was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 8 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of:
1. Lefkada
and the former communities of:
1. Agios Nikitas,
2. Alexandros,
3. Apolpena,
4. Kalamitsion,
5. Kariotes,
6. Κatouni,
7. Tsoukalades.
Municipality seat is Lefkada, city of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 9598 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
