RETHYMNO (Municipality) CRETE
The Municipality of Rethymno was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 12 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of:
1. Rethymno
and the former communities of:
1. Armeni,
2. Goulediana,
3. Kare,
4. Kastelos,
5. Koumi,
6. Maroulas,
7. Oros,
8. Prassies,
9. Roussospition,
10. Sellion,
11. Chromonastirion.
Municipality seat is Rethymno, city of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 26560 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
