Cynossema (Kunos sema, or Kunossema), that is, the Dog's Tomb, a promontory
on the eastern coast of the Thracian Chersonesus, near the town of Madytus; it
was believed to have derived its name from the fact that Hecuba, who had been
metamorphosed into a dog, was buried there. (Eurip. Hec. 1275; Thucyd. viii. 102;
Strab. p. 595; Plin. iv. 18; Mela, ii. 2; Ov. Met. xiii. 569)
A promontory in the Thracian Chersonesus near Madytus, so called because it was supposed to be the tomb of Hecuba, who had been previously changed into a dog.
