General information
A.M.E.L. was founded in 1998, is a subsidiary of Attiko Metro and is in charge for the operation and running of Lines 2 & 3. Within it's competence are also lines' extensions, as well as the operation and managing of Metro facilities, rolling stock, materials and means in general.
The line 2, Aghios Antonios - Aghios Dimitrios/Alexandros Panagoulis, is 11 km long and has 14 stations. It's under expansion, as new stations at the Peristeri and Elliniko are ment to operate in the next years.
The line 3, Egaleo - Doukissis Plakentias - Airport, lies in a 37 km long distance and has 20 stations. In fact, the line 3 reaches to Doukissis Plakentias station and then through Proastiakos Railway network, Metro trains reach up to Athens International Airport, by stations serving Mesogeia area in East Attica.
Metro of Athens has facilities for disabled people across it's stations' network with ramps, elevators, voice alarm, light signs, seats, toilets, etc., as well as into the trains, in order to make the access and use easy to anyone.

Passenger Information & Communication Office
The Passenger Information Office provides information on the Metro routes, the applicable ticket fares and the travel cards, as well as submit remarks or comments.
The Passenger Information Office is located in Syntagma station, right next to Syntagma square exit.

Lost property office operates in Syntagma station, where lost property found in trains and Metro areas is collected there.

Fines Office
Fines office is located in the Kerameikos station, at the area of the ticket office that is situated at the exit towards Tehnopolis / Gazi.

Passengers' obligations
In Metro's areas are not allowed:
- Smoking (Health Regulation MoH/G.P./οικ76017/29.07.2002)
- Transportation of inflammable or dangerous substances, materials and articles (Law 3082/2002)
- Transportation troublesome items
- Drinking & eating (Law 3082/2002)
- Boarding the train under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Selling or distribution of goods or services (Law 3082/2002)
- Playing musical instruments
- Beggary or passenger harassment
- Soiling
- Descending to the tracks and entering the tunnel
Further more:
- Pets' transfer is permitted only in their special transportation boxes (Law. 3082/2002).
- Bicycles' transfer is allowed within Metro, in every station. Must be only two bikes in a train and use the train's last door. Passengers transfer bikes could move them either on feet either on elevator but not on escalators.
- Each Station has two toilets for the public. Toilets are mainly intended for People with Special Needs (PSN) or persons in need (elderly, pregnant, etc.). For safety and hygiene-related reasons, use of toilets is rather confined. However, station staff may allow use of the toilets by other persons in need as well.
- There are no Left Luggage Facilities in the Line 2 & 3 Metro stations. Left Luggage Facilities are available in Omonia and Monastiraki Stations of Line 1 (ISAP).
Parking Facilities
Three organized parking facilities are available to Metro users:
- At Syngrou-Fix station operates within 24 hours an underground guarded parking and a bus transfer station.
- At Halandri station operates an open-air guarded parking.
- At Nomismatokopio station operates within 24 hours an underground guarded parking and a bus transfer station.
- Non guarded parking lots are available at Katehaki, Ethniki Amyna & Doukissis Plakentias stations.

Metro tickets' types & fares depend on routes. The basic metro ticket costs €1,40. Types and fares of tickets are as follows:
