A picturesque village with a long beach called "Psaropouli". The Aegean
Sea has created here a landscape completely different from the one in the Cyclades
colourful and rich in vegetation, always under the same light which shines on
the beach and the sea with a thousand different colours depending on the time
of day. According to tradition, the village's name derived from the royal (the
Greek word is "vassilika") ships - the fleet of the king Xerxi of Persia - which
anchored off the beach Psaropouli during the naval battle of Artemissio
Vassilika is the biggest village of the municipality. Its population
mainly engages in tourism, agriculture and fishing.
