Natural History Museum of Meteora & Mushroom Museum - Overview

Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum is located on the city of Kalambaka, very close to Meteora.

Essentially, there are two museums: The Zoological Museum and the Mushroom Museum, the collections of which contain approximately 350 of animals and 250 species of mushrooms. Animals and mushrooms are presented in dioramas which depict exactly the natural terrain where they live and grow into. The Artspace in the Museum hosts art exhibitions.

Among its activities, the Museum organizes educational programs, an annual Mushroom Feast, and Truffle Hunting, a unique activity in Greece which contains the finding of truffles, truffle pasta cooking in the forest, visit and guided tour in the Museum and mushroom product tasting.

The Museum has been often the main subject of broadcasts and commentaries on a very large number of Greek medias, while it receives for three years in the row the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor. In the Museum's gift shop, besides the unique souvenirs, you can buy 60 mushroom and truffle products, created by the Museum.
