Municipality of Elispontos

The Municipality of Elispontos was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 9 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of:
1. Polymylos,
2.Filipoupoli
and the former communities of:
1. Agios Dimitrios,
2. Akrini,
3. Drepanon,
4. Kapnochorion,
5. Klitos,
6. Kilas,
7. Ryakion.
Municipality seat is Kilas, village of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 7899 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
