The Municipality of Mouzakion was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 14 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of
1. Mouzakion
and the former communities of:
1. Amygdali,
2. Anthochorion,
3. Vatsounia,
4. Gelanthi,
5. Drakotrypa,
6.Ellinokastro,
7. Kryopigi,
8.Lazarina,
9. Magoulitsa,
10.Mavromation,
11. Oxya,
12. Pefkofyton,
13. Porti.
Municipality seat is Mouzaki, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 10299 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
