The Municipality of Kalifono was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 6 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Apidea,
2. Dafnospilia,
3. Zaimion,
4. Kalifonion,
5. Molocha,
6. Paliourion.
Municipality seat is Kalifonio, small town of Kalifono municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 3469 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census
