The Municipality of Ithomi was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 8 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Agios Akakios,
2. Ellinopyrgos,
3. Kanalia,
4. Kapas,
5. Loxada,
6. Pyrgos Ithomis,
7. Fanarion,
8. Charma.
Municipality seat is Fanari, village of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 3636 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census
