THIRA (Municipality) SANTORINI
The Municipality of Thira was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 12 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Akrotirion,
2. Vothon,
3. Vourvoulos,
4. Emborion,
5. Exo Gonia,
6. Episkopi Gonias,
7. Imeroviglion,
8. Thira,
9. Karterados,
10. Megalochorion,
11. Mesaria,
12. Pyrgos Κalistis.
Municipality seat is Fira, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 8771 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
