SAPES (Municipality) RODOPI
The Municipality of Sapes was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 10 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of:
1. Sapes,
the former communities of:
1. Krovyli,
2. Lofarion,
3. Strymi
and the settlements of:
1. Amfia,
2. Arisvi, of the former community of Arisvi,
3. Evrinos,
4. Iassion, of the former commynity of Ariana,
5. Nea Santa, of the former community of Nea Santa,
6. Kizarion, of the former community of Ariana.
Municipality seat is Sapes, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 8572 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
