The Municipality of Skilouda was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 16 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of

and the former communities of:

3. Grylos,
4. Diassela,
5. Kalikomon,
6. Kalyvakia,
7. Kato Samikon,
8. Makrissia,
9. Platiana,
10. Ploutochorion,
11. Raches,
12. Samikon,
13. Skilountia,
14. Trypiti,
15. Frixa.
Municipality seat is Krestena, city of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 14449 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
