The Municipality of Alyzia was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 5 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Archontochorion,
2. Varnakas,
3. Kandila,
4. Mytikas,
5. Panagoulas.
Municipality seat is Kandila, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 3913 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
ASTAKOS (Municipality) ETOLOAKARNANIA
The Municipality of Astakos was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 12 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Agrambela,
2. Astakos,
3. Vassilopoulon,
4. Vliziana,
5. Karaiskakis,
6. Macheras,

2. Fyties.
Municipality seat is Fyties, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 3136 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
