Municipality of Fanarion

The Municipality of Fanarion was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 19 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of:
1. Orinon,
the former communities of:
1. Acheroussia,
2. Ammoudia,
3. Valanidorachi,
4. Vouvopotamos,
5. Themelon,
6. Kanallakion,
7. Kastrion,
8. Koroni,
9. Koukoulion,
10. Kypseli,
11. Loutsa,
12. Mesopotamos,
13. Mouzakeika,
14. Narkissos,
15. Skepaston,
16. Stavrochorion
and the settlements of:
1. Ano Skafidoti, of the former community of Trikastron,
2. Koryfoula, of the former community of Ano Rachi.
Municipality seat is Kanallaki, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 9505 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
