Lake Avythos (or Great Akoli) is located within the municipality's borders next to the village of Agios Nikolaos on the road from Pyrgi to Poros. It is believed that the lake is bottomless. Its abundant waters are used for irrigation and domestic consumption in the wider area - from Pyrgi to Poros Valley. The locale is yet another example of the island's natural beauty, featuring lush vegetation and rare animal and bird species.
