Rouva Forest

  In the hills above the village is the forest of Rouva, one of the largest and most beautiful forests on Crete. The forest had been the refuge of Cretan revolutionaries and their families several times during the Turkish occupation. A war memorial to men killed during the German occupation marks the entrance to the village.
