The Pelinaio stands at 1297 meters above sea level. The Pelinaio mountain is the highest mountain in Chios, It is visible from Kambia - Viki and Spartounda and Agrelopo, a village just past Kambia beach., Agrelopo was, and still is closely tied with Kambia as the people share the surrounding area, Today Agrelopo is unfortunately uninhabited. At the peak of the Pelinaio, stands the church of Agia Triatha (the holy trinity). A service is held there every year at it's feast day high upon the mountain. The best way to get to the church is from Viki, as the road to the Pelinaio from Kambia is very steep. Outside of the church is a little platia (terrace) where the faithful stand during the service, it is said to look full if 5 people are standing on it and also said to look full if 100 people are standing there, it is like the platia expands as people come to the service. The views on a nice clear summers day is said to be the most breath taking experience one could have, the whole of the island is visible and on a very clear day surrounding islands in the Aegean Sea can also be seen.
