DUNSTABLE (Town) ENGLAND
Durocobrivis (Dunstable) Bedfordshire, England.
Firmly identified from its place in the Antonine Itinerary (471.2, 476.9, 479.7) with Dunstable, on Watling Street. Though many chance finds of Roman material had been found in the town, and a substantial villa had been excavated at Totternhoe, 3.2 km to the W, little was known of the actual settlement until 1967-68 when excavations on the site of the Dominican friary revealed the foundations of a large timber building, at least 30 m long, a well 27.5 m deep, and a kiln.
