Panagia Canalas (the Virgin Mary)

8/9/2002
Panagi Kanala was named after a church by the same name and dedicated to the Panagia (Virgin Mary), the island's patron saint. It is located 16 kilometers southeast of Hora and is bordered by the island's only pine forest. The church, one of the Cyclades' loveliest and best made, houses the thaumaturgic icon of Panagia, a wonderful example of post-Byzantine art.
