Byzantine Museum in Chios

CHIOS (Town) NORTH AEGEAN
  This museum is housed in the former Sultan Abdul Medjit mosque (2nd half of 19th c.) where restoration works have taken place. In the courtyard one can find sculpture from the Paleo-Christian, Byzantine, Ottoman and Venetian occupation periods. Murals of the Post-Byzantine period, sculpture and popular art artifacts are exhibited in the portico.
  In the main hall one can find sculpture of the Palaeo-Christian, Byzantine and Post-Byzantine period, Ottoman occupation and Venetian dominion. Other exhibits include woodwork, terracotta artifacts and portable church icons.
