On March 10, 1944, in the school building of the village of Palia Viniani the "Government of the Mountain", the first government of Free Greece was convened. Since that time it has been declared a museum monument where a large amount of photographic material as well as texts from the period referring to the struggles and the capitol of Free Greece, Viniani are housed. It is 38klm from Karpenissi.
