General Informations
Kefallonia International Airport was founded and operated for first time in 1971, laying in an area of 820.000 sq.m., a part of the plain of Municipality of Livathous and is found in a distance of 8km from Argostoli, the capital of Prefecture.
At the beginning it served only domestic flights, which were by propeller aircrafts YS-11, at small infrastructure facilities.
All these years up today progressively a multilevel work of growth and modernization of Airport, has took place. Those works made it capable to provide aviation services and facilities of high quality, to gradually increasing traffic of aircrafts & passengers.
Indicatively marked that the Airport has modern, completely equipped buildings in a total area of 4.500 sq.m., one runway 2.440m x 45m., suitable for almost every type of aircraft, with light marking, optical & radio aids. It also provides aircrafts’ parking stands in an area of 23.000 sq.m. and additional parking stands for small aircrafts, in an area of 3.500 sq.m.
It has also, a Control Tower building, equipped with all required modern telecommunications and aviation electronic systems and finally, a Fire Station, which provides safety at level 6, with a perspective of an upgrade.
