The Association of Galatades was founded in 1961 by the name "Educational association of farmerboys in Galatades". In 1984 it was renamed to Cultural Association of Galatades "Philippos" and that is how it works untill nowadays.
  Its members are over 200 and most of them are members in the dancing courses of all ages. There is teaching of all the traditional dances of Greece and mostly of the Central Macedonia, Eastern and Western Thrace. In its wardrobe there are 70 exact copies of the traditional dresses. All the dancers have taken part in festivals in Greece and abroad.
  Each September is organised an international festival of folk dancing, giving the oportunity of communication with other nations all over the world. In 1996 a theatrical team was made, called "Avlea", by Nikos Kotrotsos. Twenty two members take part every year and present a new play in many performances, not only in our municipality but all around.
  Their activities just don't end there. They have revived many traditions as the "Kolida Babo" (the light of the fire), on Christmas Eve. With the help of the association there has been an exhibition of the traditional art, many shows on TV and radio, and many press publications.
