Alexandroupolis International Airport is located 7 km east of Alexandroupoli city, and specifically on the E90 highway, which links Greece to Turkey. It was established in 1944. In 1955 it was recognized as an international airport and in 1975 built this infrastructure (buildings and runway).

Araxos Airport is located southwest of the Patra’s city, in the 116 AM. The airport is designated military and for every individual’s flight requires permission from the G.E.A. through YPA/D1. It lays 45 km from the city of Patras and 18 km from the center of Araxos town. The opening of the airport was on April 30, 1984.

The airport of Heraklio was constructed in 1937, 4km away from Heraklion city, and the first small planes started landing.
In the beginning was a large levelled field and the first landed plane, which transferred passengers, was a JUNKERS-52 type, with a capacity of 14 passengers and belonged to the Greek Air Transport Association. That was in the summer of 1939. In the autumn of 1946 the air transport resumed, with airplanes of DC - 3 type (Dakotas), after being cut off in 1941 because of war.
The airport had a substandard means of handling aircrafts and passengers. There were three tents, out of which the one was used by the Administration, the other one housed the offices of airlines and the third was passengers’ waiting room. For runway lighting were used storm- lights and the determination of the direction and intensity of wind, for the landing aircraft, was up to the smoke from dried grass, that smoke had the role of a wind cone. In 1947 a small building constructed for housing the facilities, as also a small passengers’ room.
In 1948 ELLAS (airline company) began flights from/to Heraklio Airport. A total number of 4000 passengers handled in that year. In 1953 was built the runway 09-27 with an initial length of 1850 meters.
In 1954 for first time a four-engine jet plane, belonging to TAE Airlines, DC-4 type, with a capacity of 64 passengers landed here. Using this type of aircraft has led to rapid growth in air traffic, which reached 18,000 passengers that year.
After 1957, when the new airline Olympic Airways used aircrafts of DC-68 type of 95 seats, passengers’ traffic increased continuously between Heraklion - Athens.
The present Heraklion Airport has been operating in a new building since 1971. Since then various projects have been carried out to extend the building and runs in order to meet the needs of growing air traffic.
The Heraklion International Airport operates on 24/7 basis throughout the year.

Kalamata International Airport is one of the 15 modern Greek International Airports.
Operates since 1959, although for almost 20 years, operated at the Tiode’s airport facilities.
Because of the need of using a larger landing runway for modern aircraft, was moved on 7.19.1970 in the south end of P.E.A 120 airport, where it operated until 1.19.1991. From 1.16.1991 until now operates in Civil Aviation Authority own premises, in a total area of 2.450 sq.m. at the SW side of the P.E.A 120.
In 1986 with the launch of charter flights from abroad, came up the need for new facilities. The project was completed quickly and on 1.16..1991 was operating the new terminal, as it is today.
The mission of Kalamata International Airport is to serve the air transportation of the region and thereby contribute to the development of Messinia and the wider region.
Kalamata town is about 7km far away.

Kastoria Airport "Aristotelis" operates as civil airport since March 1971, in a distance of 500 m away from the Argos Orestiko town and 12 km from the capital of the prefecture, the city of Kastoria.
Its operation began with domestic flights and both handling facilities and the runway were sufficient to service them.
In the late '80s began to operate the new terminal building area 1000 m. In September 2002 the new runway, measuring 2820 m.x 45 m, was launched, and thus enlisting it among those with international standards, which can service all types of aircraft.
However, the mountainous region makes difficult the connection, especially during the winter.

Milos Airport is located 5 km southeast of the port, Adamas, near the old saltpans, and its facilities lying in a 1615 sq.m. area.
The provisional community airport for domestic flights was founded on January 17, 1973, at the Alikes site of Community of Trypiti.
On October 23, 1995, the construction was completed and began operating the new terminal while the runway was re-covered with asphalt, constructed the skater, the aircrafts’ parking ramp, car parking and all necessary facilities.

The opening of the airport of Paros were at 10.5.1982, on a land granted by Mr. Nikolaos Pantelaios, from where named "Panteleio Paros Airport". It is Located 10 km southwest of Parikia town.
Its operation began as a municipal airport with a gravel runway and a small building of 80 sq.m. for terminal. In 1985 the runway was covered with asphalt.
In the beginning there was a ground floor building. In 1987 a first floor was added, which housed HCAA services and Hellenic National Meteorological Service station.
In 1989 the airport became national. Facilities’ area is approximately 400 sq.m.

Sitia Municipal Airport, is located at the Bonta area of Municipality of Sitia in a distance of 1 km from the town.
On June 7, 1984 the first aircraft of Olympic Aviation, DORNIER 228 type was landing at the airport of Sitia. A little earlier, on June 9 had become the opening of the airport.
After two years, in 9.6.1986 the asphalt RWY 17/23, TWY and APRON work was completed.
In May 1993 the airport’s services are relocated from the old to the new building, which has additional an Air Traffic Tower. New building area is 550 sq.m.
On 5.1.2003 the new runway aircraft RWY 05/23 worked, with a length of 2100 m and a width of 60 m with belts + /- 75 m, which is supported by three new runways and two new aircrafts’ parking, either for large and small ones.
On 5.1.2003 airport’s services were relocated from the old buildings, which were razed, in new temporary buildings, in an area of 1000 sq.m.
Sitia airport can serve aircrafts of small and medium size. Regular flights to and from the airport are made from/to other Greek airports. Also, the airport is able to serve charter flights and private aircrafts.

Skyros Airport operates in military air base, close to Trachy village, in the north side of the island. Is about 17 km away from the Skyros town and operating since 1984.
