Municipality of Sofades

The Municipality of Sofades was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 14 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of
1. Sofades
and the former communities of:
1. Agia Paraskevi,
2. Agios Vissarios,
3. Ambelos,
4. Anogion,
5. Gefyria,
6. Dasssochorion,
7. Kapadokikon,
8. Karpochorion,
9. Mascholourion,
10. Mavrachades,
11. Melissochorion,
12. Paschalitsa,
13. Filia.
Municipality seat is Sofades, city of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 12407 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
