The old mansion of the Iakovata family, one of the few buildings escaping destruction
in the 1953 earthquakes, has been renovated and now houses the Public Library-Museum
of the Iakovata brothers. The library contains rare books from donations by descendants
of the family as well as other donors. Some of them are: a rare edition of the
"Complete Works of Hippocrates" from 1595, manuscripts of the gospels
and a collection of similarly rare portable icons.
