AGISTRI (Village) AEGINA
West of Megalochori are the Drasseses and Xekofti beaches. Mikri (small) and Megali
(large) Dragonera, Aponissos,
and Marisa beaches are offered for a quiet time.
AGISTRI (Port) AGISTRI
Ideal beach, for children and adults, is the main beach of Skala village. It is
a sandy, shallow, and crystal clear beach and for that reason attracts a lot of
people.
You get to Megalochori's main beach by following the coastal road that connects
Skala - Megalochori before
you reach the port.
APONISSOS (Beach) AGISTRI
North of Aponissos' lake, are the secluded beaches of Maghisa and Bariama (10
min. walk following the path that begins from the St. Nikolas cemetery) and south
is Chiafa.
CHANIA (Prefecture) CRETE
To the West of the old town of Chania
there are organized beaches with camping areas, bars, tavernas and water sports.
From Agii Apostoli - which can be reached by public transport - and up to Kolymbari
there are the largest tourist centres of the county, Platanias,
Stalos, Agia
Marina, Maleme. To the
West we can see the blue gulf of Kastelli, the most western port of Crete,
which connects with Peloponessos
and Kythira.
The beautiful green villages that are to the east of Chania
with clean sands and clear waters have developed into modern resorts that attract
quite a lot of tourism Kalyves,
Almyrida, Plaka,
Georgioupolis. The western
beaches of Falassarna, Sfinari,
Elafonissi are areas of unique
natural beauty as well as the whole side of the county where in the blue waters
of the Libyan sea the mountains
Lefka Ori are mirrored, are
directed to the nature-loving tourism. Big and small hotels rented apartments
and rooms as well as camping sites on virgin beaches (Glyka Nera, Orthi Ammos)
are available to visitors while the communication among the villages Sfakia,
Loutro, Agia
Roumeli, Sougia, Paleochora
and the isle of Gavdos is succeeded
with boats. The area of Fragokastello,
to the southwest, with the villages in line at the bottom of the mountains, the
gorge of Kallikratis, the field with the great sunshine, the Venetian
castle (1371) and the myth of magic shadows (drossoulites) has some of the
nicest beaches of the Mediterranean.

DEXIA
Near Vathi, on
your way to Aetos, you will
find Dexia beach. Ulysses is believed to have disembarked here when he arrived
at Ithaki. It is a small, cosy sandy beach and swimming in the clear blue sea
will fill you with enthusiasm.
AETOS
Aetos’ beach
is situated in the middle of the island, near its narrowest part. The wind-protected
beach at the far end of the bay is ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
PISSO AETOS
Pisso Aetos is
diametrically opposite to Aetos,
at the western part of the island. It is another magnificent beach, close to Vathi
and once you come here you can also visit the ruins of the ancient
city Alalkomenes nearby.
GIDAKI
Among the island’s most famous beaches, near Vathi,
Gidaki is full of people in the summer, people who understand the meaning of "greek
summer" under the warm sun, in the cool sea, enjoying total relaxation.
FILIATRO
Leeward beach in the homonymous bay. It is situated in a close distance
from Vathi and overlooks the
coasts of the mainland.
AFALES
Afales beach is full of pine trees, which almost reach the sea in
an image that will remain in the visitor’s memory.
The sandy beach, together with the deep blue sea, relax and freshen
up the visitors who come here for swimming.
KOURVOULIA
Kourvoulia is a small, secluded beach at the northern part of the
island near Frikes.
The beach is lined with trees offering shade to the visitors and creating
a fascinating image.
SARAKINIKO
Sarakiniko beach is at the far end of Sarakiniko bay. On the left
cove of the bay, you see Skoutari cape.
The crystal clear water of the sea invites the visitor in to freshen
him up.
MNIMATA
Mnimata beach, near Skinos bay, attracts many holidaymakers every
summer because of the short distance from Vathi
and mainly due to the superb crystal clear sea.
SKINOS
Skinos is one of the most famous and crowded beach on the island.
It is situated in the homonymous bay, 3 klm. from Vathi
and the view to the northern part of the island is unrivalled.
AI-GIANNIS
Ai-Giannis beach
at the western part of Ithaki, on the way to Stavros
village, combines the blue sea with the all-green mountain called Kathara.
KIONI
Kioni beach, situated
at the northern part of Ithaki, also attracts many visitors. Being wind-protected
it invites the visitor to spend the whole day here enjoying the clear waters and
the life-giving sun.

part of Palliki peninsula

MAKRIS GIALOS
One of the most famous and crowded beaches on the island next to Platis
Gialos. The crystal clear sea will excite even the most demanding holiday-maker.
PLATIS GIALOS
Spacious organised beach some kilometres from Argostoli. Modern tourist
facilities are built around the beach offering the visitors all possible amenities.
AVITHOS
Avithos beach is situated in the area Livatho
and has beautiful blue sea and a magnificent sandy beach.
LOURDAS
Lourdas beach
is situated at the southwestern part of the island. The visitor has the chance
to swim next to the magnificent vegetable-gardens which are still cultivated in
the traditional manner.
KATELIOS
Katelios beach,

LOUTRAKI (Town) CORINTHIA
The crystal clear sea and the beautiful beaches of Loutraki have been
awarded continuously since 1987 with the “European Blue Flag” in environmental
management, for the benefit of tourism and the environment, since the following
criteria are absolutely observed:
•The quality of the swimming water Information and training on environmental
issues
•Environment management Organization of the beach and
•The Services that are rendered Safety (lifeguards, first aid)
•The services and the installations.
In the framework of its social contribution, and with absolute love
and respect for human life, the Municipality
of Loutraki - Perachora has been continuously organizing a lifeguard team
with up-to-date equipment, since 1996 for the beach at Loutraki and for Isthmia
beach, since 2000, in order to protect the bathers. For the better coverage and
safety of the bathers, 4 lifeguard watch towers have been installed, 3 on the
beach at Loutraki and one on Isthmia
beach. They are manned by highly trained personnel, who are ready to offer lifesaving
and first-aid services to the bathers if needed.

be reached by Flying Dolphins departing from Volos, the island of Skiathos or

advisory, preventive as well as suppressive action, rending this beach safe for
the bathers.

FINIKOUDAS (Village) METHONI
The great natural wealth and the incobarable advantage of Finikounda is its beaches and its crystal clean waters. The visitors get excited about the marvellous combination of nature, the green hills with the small streams which give the sensation of a ravine with their sparkling clean waters. The beach of this community, organised and nominated for the blue flag, stretches from the south part of the community to the west, where there is a fishing shetter which is also used by boats and yachts. Along the beach there are restaurants, cafes and confectionery shops next to the wave which compose the good quality touristic market of Finikounda.
